Josh had a good day yesterday. He was very alert. They took him
off the hydro-morphine now and they are just giving him a shot for pain when he
needs it. Therefore, he is more conscious with us. We had a long talk
yesterday. He was so excited when I told him about the crawfish boil I had in
Baton Rouge the first
week of June. The poor kid has not had any water or food now for 20 days since
he is being fed with a tube! He kept eye contact throughout the whole
conversation. I’m trying to convince him that he will be okay and we will take
care of him. Probably the most encouraging day we have had since I have been
here. He is taking his respiratory therapy very well. They still have not
pinpointed the infection. Brain injuries and head trauma take a while to
unfold.
Josh tried to play with Missionary Kevin Wynne’s young son as they
stopped in today. Josh tried to kick the boy with his foot. That was an
encouraging sign!
The road before us will be a long process. Somehow we will have to get Mrs.
Gomez out here as he goes through therapy. He will be in ICU yet for 2-3 weeks and
then 6-8 weeks in therapy. We have to find out where he will be taking the
therapy and try to get Mrs. Gomez into an apartment. At this point in time, we
will be flying back and forth to see him.
I miss my church family. We love each and every one of you.
Thank you for being faithful and loving us so much.
For His Glory,
Dr. & Mrs. Keith & Carla Gomez
